Outreach

Outreach to Schools

The Cereal Lab members have been very active in outreach activities towards high school students. A gluten session comprising both hands-on activities and a sensory test proved very popular. More sessions are currently developed by some of the team members. Besides on-site activities, the group has also developed a Cereal Educational and a Pulse Outreach Box for use in a school environment. The boxes encompass the material and information (teacher and student versions) for several experiments with cereal flours and Ontario-grown pulses that familiarize students with the unique properties of these flours and seeds. For more information on and bookings of these activities, please follow this link.

Outreach to Industry

The Cereal Lab has a very active network of industry contacts. A significant part of our research activities has been receiving competitive funding through the very strong ties between the Cereal Lab group and OCIRC (Ontario Cereal Industry Research Council). However, multiple research projects with non-OCIRC members are currently also worked on. Please contact us for any inquiries regarding research expertise and collaborations.

Every year, at the end of the summer holidays, the Cereal Lab organizes a Cereal Outreach Day at which students present their work through oral or poster presentations. Attendance is by invitation only. If you would like to be added to the invitation list, please contact us.
